1966 - a young portuguese soldier films scenarios and day-life scenes around Portuguese Timor, where soldiers had a pleasant life (unlike the ones that were sent to Africa). The main actor of this movie is a boy, that rides a horse around different sites in the territory.
5th of May, 2008 - the soldier meets the boy, after 42 years. The soldier is an artist that came to the country of Timor-Leste to teach wood crafting to local workers. The boy is now Leutenant-Colonel of the Timorese army and hero of the Timorese resistance during the Indonesian ocupation. This hero spent 24 years in the mountains, the "headquarters" of the resistance, fighting for this country that hugs me every day.
Today, they met in our house for dinner. Before dining, we watched the movie: colourful, original, unique and with a touching music.
Such a moment.
